Logfile 3306.08.16 // Beep's Reach Tour - HIP 69445
16 Aug 2020Eamon Flanagan
Just yesterday I made it back from the black and I'm already headed back. This time I'm joining CMDR Beepobeep on an 11,000 ly roundtrip cruise to the galactic north. We'll be aiming for some points of interest found in the galactic mapping project and will use the Cat's Paw Nebula as a turnaround point.Today was relatively short. We left from Pratchett's Disc in the HIP 74290 system, and in only a handful of jumps arrived at our first rally point - HIP 69445. More commonly known as "The Blue Death", this is a WR star only a few hundred light years from the bubble and the first I have ever seen. The blue violet glow gave the star a nearly magical appearance, and the presence of an earthlike world capable of surviving the incredible bombardment of radiation only heightened the wonder.
We finished the night watching the sunset from the surface of the second body, the star filling the horizon and painting the landscape in amethyst light.
While I'm always happy to tag along to help gather data and take photographs, I'm also hoping this gets her the attention of Professor Palin, a promotion, and a nice payout when we get back. We'll see.
