It's time to stop talking and get flying

I finally took the plunge and set off for Beagle Point... the decision was made for me by the fact that, already having flown out to Colonia, then to Sag A, then the Great Annihilator and, on the recommendation of another Cmdr, 2700k straight up to the ceiling to admire the view down onto the Galaxy (it was well worth it!) after which i returned to Colonia- I had a choice. Well three actually, a) return Colonia to restore my ship, which was at 92% hull, an AFMU at 50% and various bits n bobs damaged
b) continue with the damaged ship to Beagle Point - NOT a seriously viable option
Or c) return to the bubble and completely rethink my build and start from there?
I opted for the Colonia option and after buying a second AFMU and repairing my AspEx.. I've finally set off on April 1st at 20:30 hours and put in a quick 1000k
Ly to get myself immediately back into the jump honk scoop and scarper mode. My thoughts were, 1st 1k at Colonia (imo) should be treated like the bubble...get out sharpish, no hanging around to be shot to bits by 'griefers' allegedly patrolling around Colonia in an attempt to destroy weary travellers.
One thing that does puzzle me - is the new beta (2.3) release date! Apparently it will have great influence on the rewards for data - increasing it (supposedly to make exploration more 'attractive'. The draw of Elite status (currently half way through Ranger) is enough for me...but if the data pay outs are increased, then the Cr necessary to move up,the ladder will come that much quicker! I want- no I really want - Elite status in all 3 disciplines, but the first is important, this means access to Founders World! And I want to be able to see ALL that Elite has to offer...so Elite has become a must!
Anyway...I've set off and I'll add to this log weekly...I'm in no rush but have set May 31st as an arrival date.. may the powers that be grant me a safe journey...I'm using a new HOTAS.....so landing and getting into my SRV will have to wait until later in the trip...
