Out in the Black

Wow. A lot has happened. I decided to pay a visit to Ms. Farseer after all. She has quite the facility there at Deciat. Unfortunately, despite the fact that she invited me to come see her, she wouldn't actually see me unless I donated some meta-alloys to her company. (She said "to her cause," but she's not fooling anyone.)I can't complain, though, because on the long journey to Maia - the nearest place to buy meta-alloys - and back, I got a chance to see quite a few new places. That part of the galaxy is sparsely populated, so when I did make a port or station stop, people were glad to talk to someone new. (And I was glad to to have a hot meal and a shower that used something other than my ship's recycled water.)
At Maia, I not only picked up the meta-alloys, I also souped up the ship a little, so i could take a slightly different route back to Deciat. And it turns out I found a planet that wasn't in the registry. Unfortunately, my logbook glitched, so I am not sure exactly which one it was, or even which system. I'm working on digging that info out of the corrupt sectors of the log.
Anyway, I was able to give Ms. Farseer the meta-alloys she wanted, and she opened up her workshop for me. I had collected quite a few of the materials she needed to upgrade many of my systems. Still haven't got all the stuff she wants for the FSD, but the Zero Gravitas II is definitely a little peppier now.
And I have decided to take it on a jaunt, just to see how it handles the really long journeys. Or maybe how I handle the really long journeys. Isolation, here we come. I dropped a couple hundred LY toward the "bottom", and now I'm heading in the general direction of the Witch Head Nebula - because with Halloween coming up that seems appropriate, and really, how cool does "Witch Head Nebula" sound? I'm sure I'm not the only person to think of going there, but maybe not too many people have been, so maybe I'll find some new system or something to add to the registry.
As I write this, I'm camped on an icy moon of an icy planet of a brown dwarf star in a nowhere corner of the galaxy, and it is SO. DAMN. PEACEFUL.
