The Elephant's Trunk

I made it to the Elephant's Trunk Nebula. I'm currently parked on a barren planet maybe 50-100 LY from the nebula itself, which looms large on the horizon. I would have kept going, but there was a small rattle in my FSD that necessitated setting down and performing some maintenance. On the way I ran into another one of those weird proto-Lagrange clouds, or something like it. This one had dozens of metallic crystals of a type I'd not seen, and a bunch of blobby-looking (but extremely huge) mineral clusters. Just floating along there looking deceptively smaller than they really are. I considered staying to investigate a little more, but I was On A Mission (to get to where I am now), and besides those things frankly give me the creeps. So I recorded the visit and moved on. (Always exciting to see a signal in that part of the spectrum, though!)
I have picked out my next jump though, and tomorrow I will make it. My catalog says there's something there I've never seen... but I'll leave it a mystery until I'm actually there. Watch this space! Tune in next time, same bat channel! Etc., etc.
