Stairway to Heaven

Having reached my last arbitrary destination, I had to make a choice. I was several thousand LY from another nebula (two actually, Heart and Soul), so I could push out to them and look around the Formidine Rift for a while. I know there are a couple of bases out there, so I could reestablish a little human contact. Or I could try to find places nobody has been yet. Definitely difficult, since I'm pretty close to a well-traveled set of routes, but there are a lot of star systems.Guess which choice I made?
Yes, I can always go visit the Heart and Soul Nebulae and look at the Formidine Rift abandoned settlements. I've heard they're getting kind of touristy anyway. So I struck out in my own direction, which happens to be, to use the technical terminology, due up. I'm climbing the systems to get as high above the plane of the galaxy as I can, focusing on F-class stars in the hopes of improving my odds of finding Earthlikes. (I read it in a book or something.) So far, I've not found any, though I've stumbled on several water worlds - including one system that had two of them! - which is pretty close.
At some point, I'll start to move horizontally again, but I'm going to see how high I can climb first. Who knows, maybe if I get high enough I'll be able to see my house!
