Looks Like We Made It!

Greetings from the Beta Site asteroid base in Jellyfish Sector!I landed and turned in my data. Had to be exabytes of data. Universal Cartographics was very appreciative, nearly tripling my net worth, and crediting me with hundreds of first discoveries. I also got promoted to Pioneer, which means a livery change when I next hit a port with outfitters. (This place is nice enough for someone who's spent weeks in a cramped AspEx cockpit, but it's lacking in some of the finer things in life.)
I sold off that salvage I picked up from the planet orbiting that neutron star. I almost hung onto it, with some vague idea of tracking down what ship it came from and reporting to next of kin or something, but I realized that it would be like trying to find a needle in a galaxy-sized pile of needles. Even at low-demand prices, I profited, since my cost was nil.
I guess it was a good idea to find a base. The chief mechanic showed me around while they were patching up my ship - I think she's kind of bored living out here - and all told, my ship integrity was almost half what it should have been. The AFMU was fine for keeping individual systems operational, but I don't know that it would have been a good idea to rely on that for much longer.
So now I am once again without an immediate goal or target. The main question now it inward or outward. If I choose inward, I'll be back in the Bubble pretty soon. Maybe buy a bigger ship, run some passengers or bigger cargo runs. I've seen news reports about this generation ship they found, but I don't know if I'll make it out to where that is before they've picked it clean of interesting stuff. Wouldn't it be cool to go out and find something like that of my own though?
Yeah, right. I'm an intrepid explorer, sure, but how many of those kinds of things are there in the galaxy?
