Moving Right Along

17 Jul 2020Dante Cortez
I have officially surveyed 126 of the systems in the JC-S d5 block in my sector. (I've also surveyed some c-class systems that were on my route. My little AspX can do 26 ly at a time, and sometimes it's 50, 60, even 80 ly between one d-class system and the next sequential system. (I have passed through a few higher-numbered d-class systems, too, so that 126 is 0-116 and nine others.

Current discovery count is:

- Terraformable Water Worlds: 10
- Terraformable High Metal Content bodies: 42
- Terraformable Rocky bodies: 8
- Non-Terraformable Water Worlds: 8
- Ammonia Worlds: 4
- Earthlike Worlds: 0

I'm a little sad about that last one, because I would like to find some ELWs out here, but this part of Hawking's Gap doesn't seem conducive to them. I've not found any bio signals on any of the planets I've scanned. Lots of geo signals, and I'm stopping here and there to pick up some components. Unfortunately, though, this part of the galaxy seems devoid of life.

Still, I can't complain. My findings so far are, according to my calculations, worth almost as much as my entire net worth before I headed out here from the last FC I visited. When I finally get somewhere to sell this data to UC, I should be able to afford a little vacation. Or a new ship.

But that's a ways off. I have reason to believe there are at least 275 d-class systems in this block, so I'm at best 1/3 of the way through them.

Still, this is where I'm spending the night. Not bad, not bad at all.
