Public Statement from the Dead Pirates' Society Regarding Straylight and Nova Imperium

Commanding Officer, Dead Pirates' Society

"I didn't expect when I woke up and grabbed my morning coffee today that I would have to make a statement like this. I like to think that nobody does, but to read the Rewired article slamming Hadrian Duval as an NMLA leader, and then later find that the same baseless lie has been used to slander one of our own allies in Imperial Space, I felt I had to say something."

"The group in question, Straylight Systems, took a swing at the Imperial Corsairs after the article launched, demanding the dissolution of the group, claiming them to be NMLA supporters due to their alliance with Nova Navy. Brought on by baseless and unproven accusations brought forward by Landgrave Delacroix, allegedly, the article in question seems little more than an attempt to drive a divide once more between Nova Imperium and the Empire, because a divided enemy is easier to conquer. And the fact that Straylight is willing to burn the Corsairs in the same breath as this nonsense is equally despicable."

"As mentioned before by Commander Billboard of the Corsairs, they did not instigate this war. Nor did they immediately jump into the fire. They sought a peaceful end in the interests of citizens within both territories. Unfortunately, they were met with deceit. Almost before talks even ended, Straylight ships were out there attacking rookie Corsair vessels in open space. Straylight paint themselves the victims, but the truth is far from it. I've witnessed their underhanded tactics, read transcripts of conversations between multiple commanders and our allies, and I will not sit by and let these lies propagate unaddressed."

"The Corsairs are a valuable Imperial ally, and have shown nothing but devotion to the Emperor and the Duvals. To claim them in league with NMLA without proof, aside from this joke of an article is laughable at best, much like their hit and run tactics on new pilots, as my XO Phoenix Sonne witnessed just today, and then they run back to private space when more experienced warriors enter the fray, and I will not just watch this go unabated."

"I will be very clear: The Dead Pirates' Society stands with the Corsairs. We back Hadrian Duval and Nova Imperium, and we will NOT tolerate the despicable terrorist behavior employed by Straylight. And we will use every tactic at our disposal to make sure they pay for the crimes they committed against Imperial Citizens. I have had to fight the NMLA in Mudhrid. I rescued citizens from burning stations in Cemiess and Atropos, Federal and Empire alike. If you think I won't turn my guns on Imperial pilots just because of the flag they fly; think again."

"I consider the Dead Pirates' Society an independent squadron, despite our allegiance to Aisling Duval. We are not afraid to engage Imperial vessels if we see proper reason to. We fought for the Federation, against the Empire to save Marlinist refugee colonies, we fought pirates to secure shipping lanes for station repairs in the 'Nine Martyrs' attack, and we went head to head with the Order of Mudhrid after their Neo-Marlinist identity came to light following the disappearance of the ACT Valkyrie. We are a bounty hunting squadron primarily, but we are not afraid to reach out a hand to help those who have been wronged or unfairly treated. We are a squadron that stands for basic human decency, of which Straylight has shown none in their actions and therefore, we will fight."

"To Straylight, I say: Go ahead and do your worst against us. Our squadron has no territory to take, no stations to undermine, no BGS to manipulate; we operate as nomads. We may consider star systems our home, but we have no faction to speak of. We are merely a collection of pilots that care about the people you seem to throw under the bus to get your way. The worst you can do is destroy our ships, if you can find us, or gather the nerve to face us. Somehow though, I doubt that will be an issue."

"Keep hiding in the shadows, but sooner or later you'll have to step into the light. And you won't like the reception when you do."
