To the galactic core: first steps

14 Nov 2016Charlie Paulson
Never been much of an explorer, but some pay checks make a man think twice. Soon after I saw Ms Martuuk about the Hardrada's FSD, seems like word got around Wrangell City fast. Explorers seemed to like the idea of going places in a ship tougher than the standard explorer rig, given some of the dark tales I've heard about troublemakers who lie in wait in the galactic core.

Well, one offer was so good I put it to the crew. Anyone wants out, I said, then we don't go. Once you leave the Bubble, ain't no-one coming for you save the Fuel Rats, and even then it's a long wait. Either way, they're all in. We made some changes at the Szameit outfitters. Repair kits, a scoop, extra fuel capacity, that kind of thing, but ultimately the toughness and firepower stayed the same. Jump range is still cresting 30LY on a low tank, so I figure it's doable, if painful.

Gonna be a long haul. Somehow I suspect I'll be sick of my own ship by the end of this little jaunt, but for now I confess I'm excited by the prospect of seeing something new, so into the black we go.
