The High before the Low - Part 3

Bus Port, CD-61 6801 System - August 20th 3304 - Unknown timeHe was devastated. From the high of Victory, to the lowness of a bottomless pit... all in the spawn of minutes. Now, a few days later, he was sitting in front of the communication console. He had managed to return to his usual station at Bus Port. But his heart was not there. His mind was somewhere else, in a dark place. Like he, sitting in the dark of the cockpit, sitting on the floor and leaning against the communication console. He was looking upwards, at the lights of the console who where reflecting on the canopy. He was unusually quiet.
He had submitted requests to MacArthur Mining Ltd, all of which had been denied. He had not explanation, no clear answer. It was nothing but a void. In his heart, he knew. She never would have willingly silenced herself. Something, or someone, had gotten to her. Perhaps an accident, perhaps not. But she would never call him again. He knew it, in his heart. She was gone.
That was why he was at Bus Port, and not flying to Homeland or the Beta Hydri System. He had something to do, before he went insane. After all, he was a man of duty, of honor. He dried his eyes and stop up, leaning over the console to type. He knew that his target was in the station, but he had no courage to go seek him out physically. Instead, he wrote a formal letter. An apology, and a request: he had lost his home and his heart; his family was now but dust in the unknown. He needed to go in the Black, to think and salvage pieces of himself. His Flight Leader, Cmdr IrCelt, understood and him a few words of support. The reply touched him, and me smiled from the corner of his mouth. Yes, he needed time. But he had a family here, whenever he returned. Not the same kind, but it was something... something good.
**All events are inspired by RL, but transposed to game events to be better explain. I wanted a way to explain my absence in RP terms, as a sort of coping mechanism. I hope not to have offended anyone by this use.
