DIARY OF CADET ALAN A. RICHARDSON 0009Wow, that was a trip and a half. It's been a month since I last updated this journal. It's been a pretty eventful month. Firstly, after the scandal that shook the Titan Contractors fleet, my record had been wiped clean after it was discovered that I hadn't committed sabotage, thanks to the Commander's influence in the squadron. I did get a bit of a verbal bashing for not being at my post, but on the plus side, Decker was given the job of cleaning out the waste matter tanks for six months to make up for his ports judgement. I can't feel too bad though, it could have just as easily been me in that tank of floaty gunge. Yuck.
I was granted some leave and I went home for a bit. The feel of real gravity under my feet was something that needs to be felt to really appreciate it. But guess what, I invited the Commander back to mine for Christmas. I felt sorry for him when I found out that he was going to be alone for the holiday period. I just blurted it out and there we go, the glorious Commander, sat on the recliner watching ancient video feeds from the last millennium.
To top the whole thing off, to show his thanks he gave me his old Sidewinder. I was completely blown away. Technically, I am now a Commander. Commander Richardson. I like the sound of that.
Not to get ahead of myself though. I still have my Carrier service to finish. I have a couple of years before I can be officially released.
I've just got back to the Tyger and it was straight back to work. The ship hadn't moved in ages and it was already planning for a sightseeing tour around the bubble. Which would be nice enough. With the Sidewinder tucked away, I got on with my duties. For once I was quite happy to paint orange stripes across the length of the carrier.
