Diamonds for everyone. Even the pirates.

So a friend and I went off to do some LTD mining last night. I didn't tell him what we were mining, just that it was going to make us richer than the Painite we've gone after in the past. Once we got in system, I showed him the rings were were going to mine and there it was, a spot where triple the normal LTD's could be found. I let him lead us in towards the goal and down we went. This is where the first problem happened. My friend's wing beacon wasn't on and as he came out of supercruise, I lost my lock on him. Before I knew it, I was in the rings. My friend turned on his beacon and we found that we were 350km away from each other. We turned towards each other and headed towards each other until we were close. Unfortunately, we both later realized that this resulted in us leaving the triple density spot. But we mined not knowing this and were doing OK. We discussed that the amount of diamonds didn't seem to be what we were expecting from the location when my friend left the ring, boosted up a ways and then returned saying that his sensors showed us out of the are we had shot for. I was bummed about this news, but not as bummed as my friend was when a pirate showed up and demanded over half his cargo. I think his boost out of the ring must have been spotted by the pirate. Lucky for me, i was deep in the ring and the pirate didn't notice me. Unfortunately for my friend, the pirate got impatient with him and cracked open his cargo bay with a limpet and took everything. Not having any weapons, I just hid behind an asteroid and waited for the drama to end. After the pirate left, we discussed whether to continue and try to fill him back up or not. He decided that he didn't have the time to continue, so he left the asteroid and headed to the local station to repair his ship. I was only about 15 or 20 LTD's from a full load so I stayed and continued to mine. Once full, I headed out to sell and was very pleased with the price I got.
