The FederationThe Federation is the oldest of the three factions originating from humanity's home system of Sol.
This faction is required to gain access to Sol and with it an achievement so moving up within their ranks must be done at some point.
The ranks and rewards for moving up are as follows:

Chief Petty Officer - Unlocks Federal Assault Ship and Access to Vega and Beta Hydri Systems
Warrant Officer - Unlocks Access to PLX 695 System
Ensign - Unlocks Federal Gunship and Access to Ross 128 System
Lieutenant - Unlocks Access to Exbeur System
Lieutenant Commander
Post Commander - Unlocks Access to Hors System

Rear Admiral - Unlocks Access to Federal Corvette
