The Engineers

Since my last entry, I've been contacted by a group of elite specialists known as Engineers. They heard a few things from each other and their networks about me and offered to upgrade my ship if I could provide the materials. The first one, Blaster Mac or something, started the whole thing and now I have most of the Engineers willing to work with me for the right price. Elvira told me about some others who left "The Bubble" and headed to the Colonia region. Even heard a rumour about one in the Witchhead Nebula, but Elvira didn't know if that was true.
Selene Jean was difficult, not as a person, but by who she chooses to deal with: miners. 500 units of refined ore was her price to work with me and I'd be lying if I'd say her settlement wasn't a tempting target by the end of the ordeal. But her modifications made up for that, even if she has the crude humour of shit-throwing midget primates from Earth. The armour and hull plating modifications should give any pirate or criminal a run for their money.
The mining bit was a pain. Started out in a random asteroid ring around some planet in Diso before a friend tipped me off to a source of painite some hundred light years out. I wasn't bothered by pirates at the painite spot, so it is safe to say I've a mind to go and mine some more of it.
The few pirates that did bother me were crazy. They kept shooting missiles at me from bloody eagles and I had left most of my weaponry back at a port a ways back. Shields held, but damn if I didn't want to shoot a few of them delusional fools thinking a single ton would make them rich. Sure, painite would, but they got some cargo worth a mere 5,000 credits. Makes you wonder how Humanity has made it this far, eh?
On a parting note, the Reorte Festivities are over, cargo hauls and bounties turned in, and I've collected the payment. Nabbed closed to nearly 200 million from that and the painite combined. Not enough to buy the hull armour, but enough for that power plant Hera mentioned she could rig with greater power generation.
