...to find some (let's say it all together) Micro Weave Cooling Hoses? The Pilot's Federation sent word last week that I'd finally made the Elite rank. And only 1876 kills after the Deadly rank, too. So soon? /s
Anyway, those Guardians-based techs are starting to come on the market, and I decided to get in on the action. Off to various alien sites to, uh, research them. I didn't feel right touching burial grounds, so I left those alone. Everything else was fair game, though. Not sure why things at the sites are still powered after all of the power couplings are removed, but then again, I can't pretend to understand how all of that stuff works.
I've got everything I need now - things that a dead race left behind two million years ago. Those are easy to find. All I need now is the most elusive material in the known Galaxy. Hoses prepared from 21st century hair extensions. They called the little braided pieces "Microweaves." No kidding.
Yep, they just don't make-em like that anymore. Sort of a lost technology, building something that can stand repeated abuse by your average person for months on end, while still looking presentable on their head. Sometimes it took some colorful dyes to mask the deterioration, but overall they stayed in good shape long enough to justify the expense.
Now, we've managed to base an entire thermal management technology on 1300-year-old vanity products. The Thargoids would laugh at us, but hey, 2000 years is nothing to them. It's barely a single farming cycle.
So Yeah. Cooling Hoses. Rarer than alien bones. Who would have thought?
