The first day you sit down in the chair and *really* take hold of the stick - some say this moment sticks with you the rest of your life, natural or otherwise... if you believe some of the logs about the first pioneers of the Witch Space. And I believe them.
However, a close second would be the first time the doors close behind you in the command center of your very own Fleet Carrier. About a galactic cycle ago, in relativistic terms, the door hissed closed behind me and I could feel the weight of the hundreds of souls I was suddenly responsible for on my shoulders at all at once. I barely made it to the desk for fear of collapsing, and sure as hell didn't go to the med bay to get the bruise taken care of from when my legs gave out halfway. Section-31 began truly taking the next step towards our goals and the future we intend on creating - and I was now solely responsible for the very foundation of our organization.
Well, for a while - I did nearly everything I could to shirk that responsibility. I was on every assignment I could get my hands on, I put my needs above those of my fellow agent. Well Salvation put that into a sharp perspective for me, and I now know where my loyalties lie. Not to humanity as a whole - but to those who have sworn themselves to the betterment of their fellow Commander. My kin.
Sure, SC-31 flourished under the Czar's diction alone - but I am one of the lucky few who have spoken with him and have gotten to feel exactly how intimidating his gaze can be. Yuri Grom is the only other individual who has ever made me question the choices that lead up to me being in that room, right then. But his trust in me belies a deeper need for this venture to succeed; I want it to.
In pursuit of our goal, I am sitting here in dry dock in Makulu, awaiting the last of the out-fittings to complete. I am anxious to return to matters at hand - Azimuths campaign is almost at a close. Who knows what the future holds for humanity.
