I lept like a frog

April 9th 3306

When I left the Federal Navy some months ago, I was determined to never truly leave the Federation behind. Spending weeks of time in the black and going out to the farthest reaches of the galaxy, I made the decision to pledge my allegiance to President Hudson. After several days of ship work and preparation I began to aid Federal projects in the bubble with passion.

It was on April 6th in Nanomam not three days ago when I had a run in not experienced since leaving the Federal Navy. An Imperial fighter pilot as determined to kill me, as I was to survive. After escaping an interdiction, I dithered, and was interdicted again. Well my former Python (the Aglarond) has had many jobs over the past few months, but was only equipped to deal with the occasional pirate. During the second interdiction I fought back as best as the ship could allow, and when I made a distance from the enemy, I low waked. This was a mistake, for that interdiction had brought me too far from the Dock to be safe, and I was interdicted a third time! This time I started fighting from the get go and since this experienced Imperial was much more skilled than I and in a vessel of equal size the fight was difficult. Eventually he fell back and was attacked by patrolling Federal warships.

Later this same day I was winged up with an old friend from the navy and making cargo runs when the same Imperial appeared again, but this time he had a warship of exemplary quality. A fully armed cutter with enough shields to make a battlecruiser shamefaced. It only took less than a minute for my systems to fail under such heavy fire, and the Aglarond was not equipped properly to escape. I logged the last coordinates ever put into its computer, started up the fsd, took a leap like a frog into the escape pod, and exactly like a movie from the 20th century the pod flew out of the massive explosion that was my former ship.

Fortunately for me my wingman was there, but he stood little chance at a fight and could only run, but it was his presence that may have saved me from slavery or death at the hands of the enemy. He drew away the Imperial pilot and was able to return within an hour to pick me up and bring me back to a safe base. Since this day I have taken to heart many lessons from this experience, and began rebuilding my fleet.
