Rescue from Cemiess

21 Sep 2020Hyperion_NZ
It's been a long few days.
Pretty tedious, actually.
I'm supposed to be finalising the preparations for my first Empire sponsored exploration mission but when the call comes in, I guess you have to respond.
Cemiess is less than 30LY from Exioce, the system bequeathed to me by the Emperor for 30 years of service. I may be a King but I know that I'm expected to do my bit .
So I've been running evacuees for days now. I can't believe that I had all my ships stored in this station until recently.
It was mostly pretty dull work.
Enter the station, drop a heatsink, pick up the PAX, drop a heatsink, leave, drop off the PAX.
Today was different.
I dropped out at the rescue ship and the area was full of ships. A couple seemed to be waiting in line as I dropped out of supercruise so I figured I'd be waiting a while.
There was that same T10 that had been loitering all day, just sitting on the pad. My Orca needed that pad. I nudged my ship closer to the rescue ship.
A blip on the scanner was moving. I cycled through. A Fer de Lance.
No problem. He's some way out. As long as I can dock, I'd no concerns.
"Docking request denied"
Maybe I'm too far out. I accelerate towards the rescue ship. I glance down. Only 4km from the pad.
"Docking request denied"
Bugger. That lazy ass T10 pilot.
I check the FDL. 8km out. Closing
"Docking request denied"
FLD 6km. Closing. Awfully fast
"Screw this", I thought
Throttle pushed full forward, slide around the back of the rescue ship and boost.
FDL 4km.
Pips to engines. Boost Boost.
I see lasers flash past me
"Frameshift drive charging"
A single laser pulse strikes me, barely scraping me.
"Frameshift drive engaged"
Chew on that you ganking cockwomble.
A few minutes later, 80 ungrateful passengers, moaning about how long this might take, debarked my ship.
I began the next run as if it had never happened.
Do you like it?
