Some commanders really like to get out there and visit the far reaches of the galaxy, there are some pretty marvelous sights out there after all. Go out far enough and you're probably the first person to lay eyes on a star, a planet, an asteroid belt. But not many commanders really explore their own backyard.

The Core Systems. The Bubble. Whatever you call it there are thousands of systems within it and thousands of stations on top of that. How many unique stations does the average commander visit do you think? They probably have a few favourites and any others are visited out of necessity. I'd wager no one visits more than a couple hundred throughout their entire piloting career. Some stations probably don't see a bonafide Pilot's Federation commander for months, maybe even years depending on their location or function.

That's where Operation HOT-MESS comes in.

Operation HOT-MESS was dreamt up buy the well-known Hutton Orbital Truckers and seeks to deliver the highly coveted Hutton Mug to every single station in the galaxy. That's right, every single station that can take a mug will be delivered one in due time. "How could this possibly be beneficial?" one might ask. Well, by delivering to every station in the galaxy, Universal Cartographics databases will receive an update and this is already showing results. Stations that are reported to have commodities markets have been found with no such facilities while the opposite is also true as commanders have noted old refueling stations that have blossomed into fully functional trading posts.

I'm recording this as I make the trip to Hutton Orbital to pick up more cargo to deliver. Gotta do something to pass the time right? *sigh* I've visited 813 individual stations these past two weeks. 813. Some would say that you once see a few stations you see 'em all but while that is true in most cases, I have to disagree after partaking in this operation. I've seen asteroid bases hidden within dense planetary rings, barely indistinguishable from the hundreds of thousands of rocks around it. I've seen the same style of base as a solitary rock orbiting a star, the only body for millions of miles. I've delivered to megaships and dozens of planetary settlements. Starport after starport, outpost after outpost I delivered to and already I've seen some really beautiful systems.

So I guess for anyone reading this log, the moral is that you don't have to go thousands of light-years from Sol to see the sights. There are thousands of them to see right here in the Bubble. You've just gotta have a look about.
