The Sign of a Dying Empire

With the ongoing attacks of the Thargoids continue to reign terror and fear among the human race, it comes as no surprise to see a sudden unification between the superpowers. Unfortunately.. those who run and manage the operations of PowerPlay have turned a blind eye.. specifically the Empire itself. Various groups leaving, your own members who you fly with leaving.. all due to the harmful nature of the 13th and their reputation that cause corruption wherever they go. You never want to be seen around them, otherwise you'll be the next person to hit the news... heh...I've served my time for almost 3 years as a loyal Imperial to the Empire, as well as continuing to be the best of those who do PvP out there in the black. It's a hard role when you take up the service of becoming part of the Shield of Justice... well... when it used to be a thing. All the Empire cares about is having the infamous 13th Legion beside themselves as they are considered "Imperial". Politicians during these dark times have panicked, reaching out to groups who tarnish their name in the effort of bringing more people against those who oppose them in PowerPlay. This comes as to no surprise, particularly when those who wouldn't allow these actions have retired from the Empire and are nothing more than just citizens to its government.
Currently, my home is still with Lavigny's Legion, whom luckily, have developed good standings with people outside the Empire. However with the 13th Legion continuing to push us closer to the corner of a wall, most of our comrades have left for the sake of maintaining their reputation with the public. I am now the last Legate standing in the Empire... it's cold... dark...lonely... which I'm sure what most Explorers feel when out in the dangerous void. Surprisingly, the public still respect me, luckily... however after some desperate attempts to get those people back I have damaged my own relations with the Empire itself. No one outside of my current task force trusts me, and I'm considered as a veteran who tells legends but none of that would seem true to them anymore.
The Empire is slowly dying, most of their most experienced combatants fleeing for safety, some also waiting for the moment it does collapse. I've lead revolutions, massively-scaled wars against the Federation, and now I feel my service is of nothing more but a waste to the Empire. As for my current rank within the Empire?... I'll still be here.... waiting....alone....and hoping..... that the Empire will one day.... hopefully save itself from the event of death.
