Challenge Accepted: Solo Orbiter

26 Apr 2016Magnudius
Nudo went on a bender to relieve some stress after the Terra Mater ordeal.  She resurfaced after a couple days and bit the bullet to put out a notice on the public forums requesting help from pilots with access to Vega and Shinrarta Dezhra.  In a faster time frame then her sorta-sober self expected, she got a reply from a CMDR DeathAngel9987.

“Oh man.  This is going to be expensive at minimum, deadly at worst.” Nudo mumbled to herself as she typed up a reply.

Standard greetings were given, and they soon realized they were closer than expected and thus able to meet up in good time.  DeathAngel9987 had access to Vega and so far seemed to be a friendly guy. Nudo chugged a large glass of water as she shook away her bender and settled into her commander's chair.  Within a handful of jumps, she arrived in Altair and popped into Solo Orbital to pick up Altairian Skin.  Nudo then headed out of the station to await DeathAngel9987.  Before long, a wing invite arrived, and they meet up in a random spot in Altair space.

“WHY?  WHY THE ORCA!” greeted DeathAngel9987 as Nudo dropped out of supercruise near him.

“It's part of the challenge,” answered Nudo, defensive of her ship choice.  Yes, she had her complaints about the ship, but overall it has been nothing but fun to fly an Orca.

“Where do you even sit?” DeathAngel9987 questioned as he oriented his Asp Explorer in front of her. Nudo flashed a grin of glee with the confirmation that her mirror-tinted windows provided her with the utmost privacy while flying, just as a luxury vehicle demanded.

“In the front, of course.  What do I owe you for the Slimweed?”

“Nah, don't worry about it.  I'm swimming in credits.”

Nudo's jaw dropped at this surprise goodwill, especially from such a fiercely-named person.  “I can't wait until I can say that.”

DeathAngel9987 chuckled good naturally as the cargo transferred.  They chatted a bit more, and Nudo learned that he was a fuel rat (handy person to know), and he also passed along some advice on her hardpoint setup.

“Frag cannon doesn't do squat for damage and exposes your underside while fighting.  No Orca face hugs!  Put some plasma accelerators there instead.”

Nudo thanked him for the advice and his help.  She felt lighter and morally better after her exchange with DeathAngel9987; her faith in humanity somewhat restored.  Her exchange with him was also a nice reminder to not judge a person by his or her name.  It is people's actions that speaks for whom they are.
