COL 285 Sector QN-J C9-8

25 Mar 2020Challenge
Just 7 jumps out of the bubble and faced with a navigation issue. The path the computer laid out for me has me jumping through 12 systems with T, TT, L and who knows what other star classes that aren't main sequence. My final stop outward is only 100.4 ly from my current position, and my jump range is 175 on a full tank. So why am I worried?

Probably because my first Sidewinder, with me fresh out of flight school, ended up stuck in a system with no fuel. I hadn't learned about the Fuel Rats then and well, it wasn't pretty. So, I'm just being paranoid.

I did find a system that had been discovered, but not mapped. Wasn't anything very exciting, but fame, fortune, your name on the star charts... We get satisfaction where we can find it.

In the whole trip only two planets stood out. A water world and a high metal content world in this system. No landing on either though. Would like to land here, it looks like a lime ball suspended in the dark.

My first T-class run in came as a bit of a surprise. Followed my usual procedure when I arrived and started in for a scoop run. Realized my mistake when I was about to catch fire, hit the gravity well and slammed out of Supercruise. Pointed the nose in a direction away from the monster star and after the cool down hit the SC once again.  I aborted as soon as I realized I wasn't going into SC before I blew up from heat damage.

Try again. This time as I reached critical heat levels I fired off the heat sink. Twice. It worked. I went into cruise and sped away from the star. All internal systems received minimal damage. And then used precious materials to replace the shots fired.
