The Afternoon Tea Tour and the Assault on the Squadron Leaderboard

Organised by CMDR Flury, the annual ENEX exploration trip began on September 11th. The primary goal was to give squadron members both new and old a chance to explore the Norma Arm region of the galaxy.
A secondary goal also existed. After last year's efforts in Lyra's Song, ENEX wanted to beat the final squadron leaderboard total of 17,406,191,438 points, which had netted us the squadron's first Gold Medal.
With a new season starting on 12th Sept, the fleet carriers moved from our home in LHS 5333 towards the Boepp sector and work began in earnest.
As the season began, we were pleased to have what appeared to be competition from Nova Navy. Another squadron aiming for lofty heights in the leaderboards were an added challenge. The few of us who had some data left over from the previous season had made a small dent in the rankings. Nova Navy led the race.
We were confident though. The Art of Boxel Mapping had become second nature to many of us and there were plenty to choose from. Day by day, credit by credit, we gained on Nova Navy and eventually passed them by. New goals were set. Beating last year's total turned to setting a new record.
Back in the day, the Li Yong-Rui bonus counted when cashing in data for points. That record of 76 billion was going to be tough but the post-bonus record of 27 billion was open to us.
So, we mapped and we scanned. A few CMDRs took time out to destroy Raijin. Selling their data and bombing the titan before returning to Norma Arm.
As the season wound down, we began to head home or to ports nearby to sell what we had earned. With the new Powerplay, a new name appeared on the leaderboard, our good friend Fireytoad's squadron, initially taking 2nd place from Nova.
But in the end, ENEX prevailed with many members selling tens of billions of credits earned during the 8 weeks, including my own 10 billion. We beat the total from last year. We beat the post-bonus record of 27 billion. The final total stood at 38,945,995,285 points.
Roll on 3311's attempt to beat that.
