Is it still helping people when you make a profit off of doing it? Shortly after outfitting my new Type 6 I stumbled onto a pair of systems, one was in a state of famine that makes medicines, the other in a state of outbreak that makes food. And the two systems were only 15ly apart making it a single hop route going each way even with a full load or cargo. Easy money right? Yep.I would load a full hold of assorted medicinal cargo fly to the nearest station in the other system and complete missions with whatever I had in my hold, whatever was left after completing the mission I just sold for a good profit. So then I'd load up on things like grain, tea, coffee, and other food items and fly back and repeat the same process there. I've flown about 20 loops doing this and now have quite a substantial stack of creds. Enough to buy the Dolphin, which will be my next ship purchase, and probably fully fit it out with a little left over.
But will I feel guilt very time i pilot that ship knowing it was funded taking advantage of the misery of others, or will I feel pride in it knowing I took part in alleviating the suffering in 2 different systems with that ship being my reward. I guess its too soon to tell, maybe I should make a few more runs and just donate the goods too rather than sell them, I dont know.
But I do know this, I choose well when I named this Type-6 the Magnificent, even though its a silly name for a trade ship. But it work it did was worthy of the name. And my soon to own Dolphin will be named the Valhalla, out of respect for the brave colonist in these systems that suffered so just to further expand humanity into the stars.
