Alfredo was right. I have no idea what the Empire is looking for, but I just that month was worth several million to them. I took Grissom over to Carthage. The news from the dock wasn't good. Grissom took a pretty hard knock out there, but they think it's repairable at a cost and time.
I went away to think over what to do. Life with no ship is unthinkable for me. I headed over to the South side City to see a ship dealer with a good reputation, to see about maybe hiring a ship for the time. I can hang around pulling some cargo runs.
The Guy who runs it talked with me about what I needed, and as luck would have it he'd just taken in a part exchange Asp Explorer.
"Real prime condition that one" he told me. "Previous owner used it for simple cargo runs, nothing too  Dangerous so it's not seen much combat."
We went down to see it in the docking bay. She was a beauty it has to be said. We haggled a bit, I eventually got the price down by taking some lower grade modules. The price was less than the repair bill for Grissom.
It breaks my heart to let Grissom go, we've been through so much together. But I have to face facts. Credits are credits! I contacted the ship yard where Grissom  was and asked if they could strip out some of my modules, and refit them in the new ship.
It took a few days but eventually I got to say goodbye to Grissom - i couldn't watch as she was crushed down.
I stood below my new ship, looking at the exquisite paint work.
"The Corbomite" I said as I christened her.
She was the best of both worlds. All new hull exterior and control panel, with a new Frame Shift Drive and thrusters, yet it still had my old chair, Advanced Scanner and sensor package. Docking control gave me the all clear as we rose up from Pad 67 and together, me and Corbomite launched out into the great beyond for the first of many times.
Do you like it?
