Commander's Log: 18 August 3302

18 Aug 2016T J Stable
It's been a week so far, and we've found nothing of any significance. To my astonishment Alfredo seems perfectly happy to be here. I was worried he'd try and sabotage the mission, but he's been more accommodating than I could possibly imagine.

The first night when I let him take charge of the ship so I could get some shut eye I had expected to wake up and find us going in a different direction. Instead he woke me up to show me one of the most amazing sights I've ever seen.

The galaxy was there, shining in all it's brilliance, with the twin Nebula's hanging in front of them. It was incredible.

We are now into the Rift, although still on the near edges. The navi computer is having trouble plotting a course across, which I was prepared for. We had to manually plot our course. And I insisted on scanning every system totally. I told Alfredo I didn't know what we were looking for, and I still don't. I'm just hoping that when we find it, we know we've found it.

Alfredo has been a great help, checking jump co-ordinates, manning the communication array and general ship duties while I get some sleep.
He's made contact - somehow, I don't know how - with a small group of explorers on the other side of the Rift!
They're currently about 10,000 Light years away, but he's promised them we'll try and find them and help them explore. They seem to have found a very fertile area.
Do you like it?
