Aiding the Empire?

I returned from the recent tour and after catching up with the Galnet news I searched out the latest on the Dark-Galnet.Two pieces of discussion piqued an interest. One was about the NGC 7822 Nebula. The other was a possible enemy of the Empire out in the corner of the bubble.
Having recently had some dealings in Empire space I sought out some more information on this enemy and headed over to have a look.
It seems over on HIP 10716 there is an outpost causing some trouble for the people of Morgans Depot. I equipped Grissom with some hull reinforcement packages and some missile launchers and went to see what I could do.
At first I was surprised how well equipped this little outpost was, and I admit I ran for shelter to the orbiting dock for repairs. I returned and this time I laid my full vengeance upon them.
Returning to the depot, the Empire were grateful for my assistance and after taking a secure package - no I didn't ask what it was, or look to see myself - they rewarded me with a new title.
Speaking to a contact over a drink later I discovered that one more ranking will grant me the use of the Imperial Courier! My contact suggested maybe taking a more manoeuvrable ship if I wish to help Morgans Depot further, so that lead me to a trip to the Ship yard.
I discussed my needs and they suggested a Cobra Mk 4. I admit I was sorely tempted by returning to the Mk 3 - in many ways I still miss my fleet of Cobras - but they persuaded me to try the latest model.
I admit it's not as nimble, but it packs a punch for it's size. I upgraded the hull and returned to Hip 10716.
Morgan's Depot were more than happy to let me assist them once again, and Eddie was totally correct that a more manoeuvrable ship is a huge asset.
I was able to destroy the turret generator and distract the sentry ports to allow a small strike force to infiltrate the base.
I'm slowly growing attached to the new ship, even though once this is over I'll be selling the old girl. NGC 7822 is still out there, waiting for Grissom and myself.
