On the way back now, stopping only to scan and map a couple of virgin systems. Haven't slept in days.
Found Twiglet crumbs in one of the access corridors leading to crew quarters. The cheeky fracking rats are stealing them and taking them to quarters! Unbelievable. No-one - and I mean no-one gets between me and my Twiglets.
Only thirty or so jumps from HQ but I need to go see Felicity first to engineer the FSD and surface scanners. I'd asked her to modify the surface scanner slightly and the difference is amazing - I can pop a few probes on arrival at a planet and be scanned in one salvo. Worth engineering the rest of the way I think. May stay for a while once back at base to help the squadron with some expansion. Be good to sit in the Purple Turtle for one last stretch before the expedition starts.
The squadron commander has lent his blessing to the trip - we've taken on a lot of commanders recently and the effort they've made is substantial. The least I can do is to grab a horde of exploration data and sell it to our faction on my return!
Next log will be some time after I've decided the final outfitting configuration and finished off a combat stretch; and will also do some research in the codex to see whats rimwards or in Temple. Both look interesting but I'd like to see how the new evolution of scanners work with black holes (plus bag a Herbig or two). Particularly want to visit the Eodgold Anomaly.
