Preperations
30 Apr 2020Amata Lirein
Amata sighed while watching the slaves working at the dock of Stephens Enterprise loading yet another crate of Food Cartridges onto the Astarte, wondering how Professor Palin actually gets customers for his workshop when he demands of every one of them to have been travelling 5,000 lightyears away from where their license was issued first. Her father, Nestor Lirein, was standing next to her on the gangway, wanting to make sure that his only daughter had everything she needed for this long trip outside the "Bubble"."I still can't believe that he forces you to do that for some simple engine updates." Amata rolled her eyes. "Dad, ship engines are hardly 'simple'. One false adjustment and the ship could overheat and eventually explode. And it's actually not that bad. I wanted to do such a trip anyway in order to improve my Pilots Federation's Exploration rank. Palin's strange condition just forces me to to it a bit earlier then I anticipated." She smiles at him and places a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. "Don't worry. I was well trained and made sure that the Astarte got fitted with everything I might need out there. I even fitted a second Field-Maintenance Unit just in case the first one gets damaged." He looks at her, still not fully convinced. "And what if you got hurt? You really shouldn't do this alone." She rolls her eyes. "Dad, we've been over this. It's going to be a long and boring trip that will not even take me close to where the Thargoids were spotted. I'll be fine. Besides, you know that I enjoy a good party, and with the lack of any clubs out there you can be sure that I'll not stay a second longer out there then I absolutely have to." She winks at him as the foreman signals to the pair on the gangway that the last crate of supplies had been stored. "Well, I guess I better get going. There's a festival coming up in a few weeks which I want to intend, and the longer I delay this trip the less likely I'll make it back in time." Her father nods before giving her a hug. "Don't take any unnecessary risks, okay?" She smiles "I'll try my best."
He watches her as she walks down the stairway onto the service platform to board her ship, still not sure if he should really let her go as his wife entered the hangar. "See, I told you she would see it through." He rolled his eyes. "Where you listening on the door again, Penelope?" She just smirked as she leaned onto the rail, watching her daughter sitting down in the pilot seat through the cockpit window. "Of course I did. I care for my daughter as well after all. But unlike you I know that she's way too stubborn to back down from whatever she set her mind on." He sighs. "Oh, I do know. I'm just not overly happy with it." He smiles at the woman at his side. "But then again it's the same trait that made me fall in love with you." The two share a short loving kiss before waving their daughter goodbye as the servicelift raised the Astarte into the docking area.
