Colonia Bridge, part 9 (Plutonium Pearl to Sevastopol)

24 Apr 2022Sarashina
25-4-3308, CB-12 The Plutonium Pearl.
Nothing appears overly exciting in-system so decided to head on out. I'm barely a quarter of the way to Colonia.

Lagoon Sector VU-O b6-3 - 3 gg and a lot of icy bodies
Lagoon Sector QT-R c4-38 - 2gg, some icy, a crazy number of belt clusters. Through the Lagoon nebula with barely a blip.
(EDSM says I stopped at c4-6 - 2gg, 2 belt clusters, 1 hmcw. Not sure what happened there.)
Bleia Dryiae JM-M b27-2 - couple of gg, one hmcw and a bunch of small fry. Not sure the map hasn't replotted because the system names aren't matching up (possibly because I picked up more limpets).
Bleia Dryiae IN-Q d6-38 - 3 stars. Lined up to jump, almost exactly headed for the Trifid nebula.
Bleia Dryiae SL-F c14-3 - 1 star, non-scoopable.
Bleia Dryiae WP-F b31-11 - 4 gg, 2 with abl, 1 hmcw and a lot of scanner practice. The hmcw unmapped (was!) A2 A high arsenic content (2.5%). Trifid nebula now showing purple.

Bleia Dryiae II-A b34-8 - 2 stars, closest non-scoopable.
Bleia Dryiae FF-S a72-3 - ns star, a bunch of icy bodies that didn't show up on the main scanner console for some reason.
Bleia Dryiae HK-Y c17-9 - slightly tedious system. Jumped into some encoded emissions to get rid of the limpets. So much easier than trying to scoop everything.
Off to the fleet carrier, called "The Pit Stop". (There was another nearby called "Why won't this name fi" which raised a smile.) Sold the remaining limpets as they seem to have an adverse effect on jumping - no point carrying them if I don't need to. 775kCr carto, doesn't include the last 2 stops. Half the income was from the last stop.

Onward and upward.

348ly and 8 jumps. Mapped and then decided to take some limpets with me. Interesting to see if that will change the route. Encoded emissions on the way out so it may not make any difference. Watched as my second numpty limpet chased after, and collided with, the first one - destroying both.

The Trifid nebula now a purple inkblot against the Milky Way.

Bleia Dryiae LQ-W c18-27 - single scoopable star.
Bleia Dryiae VU-Y a82-2 - unscoopable star
Bleia Dryiae OZ-P a87-9 - unscoopable star. Can now see why the map said the first star was a fuel star! Change of system here.
Bleia Dryiae CY-I a91-1 - and we're off-piste. Another unscoopable. Trifid nebula starting to look menacing.
Trifid Sector CF-Y a1-8 - Trifid (tri - fid) mean "3 lobes" and you can see now why it was so named. A bunch of uninteresting icy rocks here, none mapped but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Trifid Sector TO-P a6-10 - another unscoopable and I'm nearly out of fuel.
Trifid Sector LY-G a11-1 - yet another ****ing brown dwarf. Concerned, but it's showing me the next destination is the carrier system, less than 8ly away.
Trifid Sector GW-W d1-220 - interesting system; many many hmcw. One water world. The carrier is CB-14 Ashwin's Delight. Only 86k cartographics with all the brown dwarves. Lots of high-threat USS in-system, not clear why; it doesn't look like it's a major mining system - no hazres.

Plotting out the next leg and it seems to do a hard left at the Trifid nebula and head west (as it were) - not sure if the TN was a detour...? I suppose on a journey of this distance you can affford a bit of wiggle room. It's actually heading now towards the Omega nebula. It'll be interesting to see what the EDSM makes of the route.

First star is a "fuel star" so I expect there's another patch of brown dwarves coming up.

Trifid Sector JC-V c2-6 - scooped as instructed. 7 hmcw, tho' only one landable, 5k ls out.
Trifid Sector JU-E a12-1 - brown dwarf with icy bodies, none landable. First to visit this on EDSM!
Bleia Dryiae IZ-C a108-0 - ditto, other than landable. Off-piste again. The Omega nebula looks like a red eye in a mushroom cloud.
Bleia Dryiae AH-P b53-15 - T Tauri! Makes a change from brown dwarf, I suppose.
Bleia Dryiae WD-D a108-10 - back on-piste, but still not scoopable. Jumping out towards the nebula, the string of stars around it shone out before fading into Witch Space.
Bleia Dryiae VJ-B a109-2 (fuel) - cannot fuel, it's not scoopable! But at least if I'm going to be stuck, I've got something to look at - the few stars around the nebula are now shown to be dozens - a star nursery? Extraordinary.
Bleia Dryiae UP-Z a109-11 - another brown dwarf so no fuel here either. Clipped the star in steering round it and damaged the hull slightly (again). There are well over 100 stars in the patch, and are now obscuring a large part of the nebula. 38 ly to the next stop, can just do it on available fuel.
Bleia Dryiae EE-E d13-178 - a silver-white star! Haven't seen one of those for a while - so pretty. 1 ww, 14 hmcw, but very few landable. A number of encoded emissions on the way in. I always feel bad abandoning the helpful little limpets when I go back into supercruise.

The fleet carrier is CB-15 Sevastopol. I'm getting better at finding the pads. Kissing the brown dwarves cost me 2200Cr. Received 1.795MCr in cartographic data, 761k from Trifid Sector JC-V c2-6 and 994k from the last stop with its many many hmcw. It's really only worth scanning for those and the giants.

Good for next time - A5 alone is worth 185k. May head out to that and have a look - it caught my eye on the initial scan.
