Captain's Log: Another Update
09 May 2021Pon Pon
Good morning CMDRs. Or, well, I guess I should say evening. The nice thing about being independent is you make your own schedule, so I've just woken up.I've decided to move to a more "update focussed" log, since my day-to-day is mostly the same. And if you're reading this, chances are the ship's travel logs survived as well. So yeah, here's what I've been up to the past few days:
I actually went and bought the Diamondback Explorer, like I said in my last log, and my god it makes a world of difference. The Hauler worked, but the Explorer, well, explores. The power plant barely breaks a sweat when fuel scooping, there's around double or triple the fuel capacity, I loaded it with sensors, scanners, and an SRV, and it even has roughly the same (laden) jump range to boot. I've parked the Type-6 at Angus Manwaring in Eta Cassiopeiae, and been cruising around the bubble doing some surface prospecting. I'm writing this, parked on the surface of LP 490-68 2 e a where it seems to be perpetually dark and gloomy, but I think I've got the hang of driving the Scarab around now.
Now that I've got the hang of surface prospecting, and enough stockpiled to synthesize fuel and repairs for my SRV, it's time to fuel up and take my latest purchase from Lakon a bit further out: ~1500ly from the bubble, where I hear there's more higher-grade materials to be found. I might do what little engineering I can on the Explorer's FSD before I set out, since even a small boost to range should make smoother sailing in the long run.
Ah, I grow ever closer to my dream of exploring the unknown. I've always played it safe, but there's something about being out in the black that makes me try and take a little more risk now and then. Well, until next time.
