Captain's Log: Total Failure

Well, that didn't go as planned. Things were dicey for a bit there as well, and I didn't know if I'd even make it back in one piece. But, seeing as I'm sitting happy here at Garay Terminal in Deciat, I'm back safe and sound.Let's start at the beginning. In my last log, I was setting out for HIP 36601 in my relatively new Diamondback Explorer, with the goal to prospect for high-grade materials once I'd arrived. Well, I took a route that led be some hundred lightyears "up," but at around 1000 lightyears out the stars began to... Well, thin out a bit. Yeah. My ship didn't have enough jump range. After going through denial, I eventually realized I'd need to suck it up and head back home. Except for one small problem: My nav was going haywire when I tried to plot a course of more than a few jumps, and that was when I realized I really didn't have enough jump range. Somewhere along the line, I had made a manual jump on a low fuel tank.
Well, I made it back and it actually wasn't as difficult as my stress levels might lead you to believe. All I had to do was make sure I kept only 2-3 jumps in the tank, so as to maximize my jump range. I plotted short courses that led me closer to the bubble, until I was able to plot a course directly to Deciat.
In terms of actual exploration, well, I did a little. The sights were fairly plain, and I only make ~3.5M credits on the exploration data. The coolest thing I saw was a hexanary (is that a word?) star system, Wregoe UF-E C12-1. I snapped a few photos of the various star pairs there.
In terms of discoveries, I did take a break from jumping and fuel scooping in a couple of systems to DSS some bodies that (according to my ship's computer) had yet to be mapped. They're as follows:
- Wregoe YC-0 B21-0 ABC 2
- Wregoe YC-0 B21-0 ABC 3
- Eskimo Sector FW-W D1-6 A 7
- Eskimo Sector FW-W D1-6 A 8
- Eskimo Sector FW-W D1-6 A 9
- Eskimo Sector FW-W D1-6 B 4
- Eskimo Sector FW-W D1-6 B 5
- Eskimo Sector FW-W D1-6 B 6
- Eskimo Sector FW-W D1-6 B 8
- Eskimo Sector FW-W D1-6 B 9
Anyways, until I get ~40 ly of FSD range, I don't think I'll be trying that again...
