Captain's Log: Locked and Loaded

09 Sep 2021Pon Pon
Well, this ought to be a short log.

As circumstances would have it, today has ended up being a lot of waiting around for stuff to happen. I left BD+72 545 with a hold full of modular terminals in my Asp Scout, now dubbed de Packesel, and offloaded them all in Sirius. Marco took most of them, and I sold the rest at Patterson Enterprise.

Patterson Enterprise is the only starport in the Sirius system, so I popped into Inter Astra and had a few of my ships shipped over: The Reichweite II, so I can get home in style, and my unnamed Alliance Chieftan, so Marco can have a look at it. While waiting, rather than twiddling my thumbs, I decided to take a load of bertrandite up to Ez Aquarii to make a quick buck on the side with the Packese. She's gotta earn her keep now that I've decided to keep 'er. Sure, with a cargo hold of 40 tons, it doesn't hold a candle to the Faultier (my Type-9), but it was something do kill the time. After that, my two ships had arrived in Patterson Enterprise, so I took the Chieftan out of storage and set off to Marco's place, 6000Ls out.

Of course, now I've got even more time to kill, but no ship to do it with. I'm having Marco take a look at the power plant and distributor of my Alliance Chieftan right now, since she was just a little underpowered, and he thinks that with the materials I've brought he'll be able to get her fully combat-ready, but just barely. I'm talking redline levels of close shave on the power here, using every drop we can squeeze out. That means, though, that he's taken my ship into his workshop to tune it, and I don't exactly have a spare to putter around in either. Marco's research lab is... Lacking in amenities, let's say. Sure, his robots can get you food or booze just fine, but there's no Inter Astra, and good luck getting an Apex out here.

But, all gripes aside, I can just put my feet up for a while. Once the modifications are complete, I should be blasting around in what is already feeling like an extremely maneuverable ship. It'll just be a matter of shipping her back to Algorab, then finding some ne'er-do-wells to blow up.

What's that? Fleet carrier? Never heard of it, I don't know what you're talking about. That sounds like some much longer-term goal for when I really have credits to burn.
Do you like it?
