Log - To Star One #4 - Arrival and frustration

21 Jan 2021Eeka
After many jumps i've reached the DSSA Andromeda Calling. The Neutron Highway is useful when crossing a huge distance with no known POI's and i've used it through 8.8kly, which saved me 30 jumps.

I spent the night in the DSSA and now i'm already on my way to Star One. It's about 2.2kly away and the star density is really noticeable. Automatic route plotting is not working beyond 1.2kly.

This is where the journey really begins and i'll be able to test Orgun's performance since the first mission we did in an outer galactic region.

The last 900ly from Star One seem dark, but you can still find plenty of light:

In the darkest places you'll find the brightest lights

I've also built a route to help me back and other future commanders willing to reach it.

That's it, i've arrived and found a big surprise: it's an absolute monotony. Just 3 stars and nothing else. Of course the border of our galaxy will always be a beautiful sight, but this could've been obtained from systems closer to the Bubble.

Our galaxy is uniquely beautiful

Andromeda doesnt look any different from here.

Yup, i've zoomed it in but i can't deceive it from you guys. It's the same

It is a great frustration, but i knew it could be that bad. This is my second attempt to reach this system, something made me go back on the first. Maybe i stopped listening to my bright inner thoughts since then.

Nevertheless i was up for the challenge and it's beaten now. "The journey is more important than the destination" they say and they couldn't be more right.

Well.. time to head back to Andromeda Calling. A few cool POIs are still to be met in my way back to MelRose.

Thanks for checking in.
