13 May 2020CJ_Pryde

Breaking to you from Jameson Memorial, this is CJ Pryde and QuantumBlade.
The mysterious cyber terrorists, now known as Los Extranjeros, has attacked stations in the Shinrarta Dezhra system. The Pilot's Federation branch was caught entirely off guard. Jameson Memorial was hit hardest as an unknown number of ship modules have been stolen. Cytoscramblers, packhound racks and Imperial Hammers were among the most taken. The shipyards were left untouched. Dock security and system authorities were caught on a doughnut break.

For more information, we go to our own QuantumBlade who is boots down in Jameson.
Evening CJ. It's a mess down here. The PF branch are scrambling to pick up the pieces and put together how these terrorists got into the system unseen and attacked stations with NO authorities on scene. I spoke with a representative from the Pilot's Federation Branch to find out what exactly happened:

QuantumBlade: Hello, is there any information that you can give out at this time about what exactly happened?
Pilot's Federation rep: Yes. We have determined that a massive hack crippled system authority networks. Our security forces were unaware of what was happening because of the hack. System defenses were reprogrammed to acknowledge hostile ships as normal ships hence were left unchecked as they entered the station.
QB: Is this something that can be blamed on outdated software on Jameson computers? Jameson and Shinrarta stations are running older interfaces then those used by Federal and Imperial networks.
PFR: That is an excellent question, but I am not at liberty to disclose that inform...
QB: I basically disclosed it for you. Los Extranjeros exposed you as well.
PFR: I understand what you're saying but for the safety of our citizens and staff, I am not allowed to answer questions in reference to our security networks.
QB: Jameson Memorial the most visited starport due to having every ship and module available for sale to any pilot. Will this attack and subsequent theft spark a rise in prices or a complete station shutdown?
PFR: Absolutely not! We are determined to keep Jameson as well as all other SD stations open and operational. As for as price inflation, we have a set price sheet for all modules/ships. This allows us to sell our goods to any pilot. Prices are set by contract. They will not increase.
QB: What measures are you taking to prevent further attacks?
PFR: We are stepping up security forces throughout the system. On and off station. We have contracted a private company to overlook our network security. Station defense patrols will now be more frequent with higher class vessels.
QB: Vox Galactica and myself thank you for taking the time to speak with me. We wish you good luck and safety in these troubling times.
