The search continues for the murderers of Senator Demetrius Soren, his wife Jocelyn, and the kidnappers of their daughter Becky. A few leads have suggested they left Imperial space, most likely into an anarchist system. This may hinder Imperial authorities but not contracted hunters and search and rescue private military companies. Vox Galactica was contacted by a representative from Nova Imperium who addressed their stance on this crime. The message is as follows:
"With the permission of Imperator Hadrian Augustus Duval, I hereby release Nova Imperium's response regarding the murder of Senator Demetrius Soren alongside with the murder of his wife, Jocelyn, and the abduction of their daughter, Becky.
Whilst we are happy to see a blow dealt to the false Emperor, Arissa Lavigny-Duval, Nova Imperium is not responsible for the attack that took place. Whilst we do hope Becky is fine, even we do not know who was responsible for the conducted acts. Perhaps, it may have been remnants of the Emperor's Dawn organisation, for they after all are quite known to conduct high profile assassinations. (Referring to the assassination of our former Emperor; Hengist Duval)
In conclusion, we hope that Becky is able to mourn the death of her parents, and that she is healthy and well. We extend our congratulations to those who managed to attack a close ally of Arissa Lavigny-Duval, but at the same time, we wish to distance ourselves from any accusations: Our Navy, the Nova Navy, is too occupied at the moment. And to be fair, we would not target assets that would traumatize a child. Those who are not our target should simply stay out of harms way, physically as well as mentally.
With that said, The Imperator instructed me to conclude with one final statement to this article, it being:
Memento Mordanticus!"
Nova Imperium have been removed from the list of possible perpetrators and the search continues for the true masterminds behind this disgusting act.
Imperial Intelligence Services are still keeping all information regarding the murder of Capt Bumberg and his family and the subsequent explosion at Schroter Beacon behind locked doors. Official charges still have not been levied against Lily Blossom, but she remains detained in an Imperial Detention Centre.
Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval has gone on to state that these attacks against her are personal in nature and she will not stand idly by and watch her friends and citizens be terrorized by criminals who have a vendetta against her. A special session of all Imperial senators is to be held in the coming days to discuss plans to eradicate these criminals.
This is VolkerX reporting to you from Obsidian Orbital.
After many weeks of fighting and attacks, a large number of commanders have retreated from the fight with the Thargoids. They cite rising tensions from residents towards them as the cause of withdraw. However, Asterope is seeing a rise in tension between Thargoids and independent pilots. Xeno activity is rising which could point to something big on the horizon. If an incursion does arise, residents will personally hold those pilots who waged vendettas against the Thargoids responsible for the invasion. Several factions based within the nebulae have agreed to bring forth charges against pilots who threaten the safety on civilians living in the nebulae. This does not come without it's criticism. Many claim injustice if charges be brought forth as they are merely defending themselves against an enemy who attacked first.
This ongoing debate seems to never end. Who attacked who first? Who rightfully settled the Nebluae first? These debates have thrust the civilians into an uneasy condition. The leaders of the Empire, Federation and Alliance are watching this situation very closely to determine if any action will be needed to ensure the Thargoids are kept far outside the Core Systems.
The controversial Aegis Corp is also watching the situation with Eagle Eye. Aegis has claimed many damaged Thargoid vessels and structures for "scientific" purposes. Concerned citizens have claimed Aegis is covertly experimenting on xeno DNA to attempt to replicate and/or fuse it with human DNA. Aegis has denied these claims as false and unproven. Several sources have come forth to claim to possess proof of Aegis' lies.
That concludes this week's Vox Galactica. Fly safe o7!
