Here I am sitting aboard my fleet carrier , enjoying a cup of coffee , taking in the view of the Gas Giant and her rings. Bhumij recently held elections and elected the Shonso Empire Pact to control the system. No doubt they are pleased , and that they can handle the job. After all Ember , had thrived under their leadership. After this line of thought , I decide to check the news. I see that the NMLA is back at it again , re-taking their old megaship , and heading back to the system where my first direct encounter with them took place.... The fools intend to die fighting no doubt. Many people around here seem to believe they are going to go after Theta Seven , but if that was their intention... Why go back to Mudhrid? Unless they mean to create a diversion of sorts ... it makes no sense even then. All three superpowers have more than enough manpower to both crush them underfoot , AND hunt for Theta. As for the hostages .... well that's a tough one. I understand ACTs position on the matter , and no doubt the NMLA has a measure of protection.. security forces wouldn't dare try anything if they believe there to be a hostage situation. At the same time , there is no telling if these are indeed hostages ... or if they are there willingly and only playing the part of hostages to buy time. The other possibility is a grim one ... they killed the hostages when they took the ship , and are using the fact noone knows they're dead to their advantage. Wouldn't put it past the NMLA after all , they had no problems sacrificing their own and killing innocents.
The Empire seems ready to go in and consider the hostages lost , a smart move only if there aren't actually any actual hostages alive. A bad idea if there are innocents aboard. One could argue that a few hundred deaths to prevent potentially thousands , or even millions more at the hands of the NMLA is a worthy trade off... but sacrificing them to do so in a way could make us no better than the terrorists themselves. There's only one way we could really do this , stealth and infiltration.. maybe pose as some criminals trying to join the cause or hire some criminal mercenaries... Ehh maybe that's a stupid idea too... Either way there's gonna be a fight I suppose. When it happens ... just know you Neo Marlinists.... DPHS is coming for you .... and this time we're gonna make sure we bury you.
