47th Logbook Entry - An Accomplished Miner

Beginning audio logbook speech to text recognition."I am officially an accomplished miner. I even have a shiny new badge to show it! "The Miner" rank 5 accolade has been earned. As I said before, I'm now returning in my Federal Corvette to lay out some hurt on the pirates in the system I've been mining in. Nothing like some massively delayed revenge. I've only been in my combat ship for a day now, but I forgot how much of a thrill there is in bounty hunting. I don't mind taking on any pirate wing in my fully engineered all beam laser 'Vette. The thing dishes out insane damage and never drops below 80% shields even after extended fights against multiple wings.
I'll be sticking to bounty hunting for awhile now. I've got to clear out that system from any and all pirates as promised. The only thing that will pull me away is a damaged starport from a Thargoid attack. If another call to arms from the Anti-Xeno Initiative is broadcast then I may step away for a day or so at a time, but it feels good to be back to my bounty hunting roots for now. I jumped my carrier, The Flying Dutchman, right next to the rings that I'm hunting in. I just installed a redemption office for quick trips back and forth, but I don't see myself needing much since full beams on the 'Vette will let me stay out indefinitely. It's still nice to have though just in case.
I also rehired a pilot to take under my wing. I let my previous pilot go because I was heading out into the black for months on my Exploration Elite V and Exobiology Elite V journey. It's a shame because I trained them from Harmless all the way up to Elite. I wonder what he's up to now adays... Anyway, I like the new guy. Seems like a real go-getter. After just a single day he's already trained from Harmless to Competent and almost to Expert. From experience, I know his rate of progress will slow, but it's still nice to have someone else around after flying solo for such a long time. We just had a little chat on the bridge of my 'Vette about flying with flight assist off. He hasn't fully gotten the hang of it quite yet, but he'll be there before we both know it. Well, we've got an early day tomorrow... pirates get an early start. And I'll be there to greet them.
