The Journey to Jaques Station

Apparently, someone out there managed to find Jaques station. To be honest, I wasn’t sure he was going to make it after I saw his station appear on Galnet’s “Busted Stations” news article. Well, he’s a tough ol’ cyborg (is that even the right word to use?) so I figured he could use some help out there. I prepped Farscape Moyen, got a couple of ‘good luck and godspeed’ and other well wishes from the miners, and headed out to Maia to start the journey.

Darnielle’s Progress was humming with explorers and private security. I’m pretty sure I signed my soul away in some of the paperwork needed to purchase these meta-alloys, and my credit balance took a huge hit when I filled only half of Moyen’s cargo hold. The Galaxy Map showed the landing point of Jaques Station was approximately 22,000 light-years from here, so I spent a few hours plotting several waypoints for the route. Once that was finished, it was time to hit the trail with Moyen, its AI, and enough provisions to last me for about 4 weeks minus any onboard recycling. Onwards, to Jaques Station!

I finally made it to Jaques! It took a hell of a slog to make it through the past 4 days; I’ve lost count of how many jumps I’ve made.  Kudos to Felicity Farseer for the FSD upgrades, else I’d still be out there staring at the star fields.

Jaques station is a better shape than I’d thought it would look, but its still pretty bad. Station services were all down, except for the Commodity Market. I offloaded my meta-alloys and pitched in for some of the repair efforts. No experience with Starport repair required; If you can hold a tool, you’re on the build crew. I pitched in as much as I could while Moyen ran diagnostics in the hangar. I'd love to stay and help to get the station back on its feet, but I still have things to do back in the bubble. I turned over the last of my haul and headed out for the journey back.

Back in civilization! I dropped by Deciat to let Felicity know that I made it back in one piece and to share the news of Jaques Station. She had fresh components for Moyen before I entered Orbital Cruise over Farseer Inc. She was hanging on to every word, hell I might have convinced her to make a trip Jaques herself. Once we were done talking about the journey, we turned over the exploration data to Universal Cartographics. 15 million credits, a promotion to Ranger, and several planets with my name plastered on them. What a way to end a trip!

Got back to Vernadsky in Ngolibardu, had a couple drinks in the bar for a ‘welcome home’ party. All the miners had loads of questions, mostly if I had found anything weird or strange out in the black. Nothing crazy like aliens (thank god), but I did catch a shot of a black hole at close range without getting sent into oblivion.

Well, I suppose it's time to catch some rest after that trip. Tomorrow's a new day, and those credits aren't gonna make themselves.
