Entry 2: Combat Cherry, lost!

Logbook Entry 2: Cmdr IrishdavoI had travelled a lot as a Cmdr and I love that part of space flight, jumping from system to system in my Explorer, heading out far and wide, I gained a reputation for walkabout within the squadron, and I love that!
I had tried a bit of space trade/mining, I will follow up on that later on in another entry, but for now, let's focus on the loss of my cherry...
I was getting up my rank with the Federation and one of my squadron mates informed that our home system was under attack by the Elite German Commanders, this would not stand, could not stand!
Having the lofty combat rank of 0% Harmless though, I was going to need a crash course, forgive the pun, in space combat... Enter, Cmder DingBatDave… under his decidedly average tutelage I slowly become some way proficient at space shooting, bring on the Conflict Zone, Low Intensity, of course!
Trying to target, shoot, dodge, recharge etc was a touch overwhelming initially, but with the guidance and mockery of my squadron mates, I slowly made headway and was soon shooting every bugger... I loved every second of it. Cherry well and truly popped! Before long, my Python was getting through battles with less and less damage... enemy wrecks were littering zones and we lost noone...
After a few days of fighting, and bounty collection, a sweet little surprise treat may I say, we showed those interlopers the error of their ways and I went back to the Federation grind, but I have a plan...
