Right where it belongs

We actually did it. Almagest is under our control. We suffered a viral outbreak for the duration of the elections against Sirius Corp., but this turned out to be quite beneficial. Dumping millions of Cr from my pockets to fund public healthcare and pandemic response services made me look like a hero to our people, meanwhile Sirius' token government here had no real riposte.
I really said everything there was to say on the matter already, and I'm finally taking a breather and just reveling in our accomplishment. I haven't felt a genuine innocent happiness like this in a long time.
With all this new free time to work with, now that I'm not gerrymandering about, how about I head out on an expedition? It's been a long while since I even went on one myself. Obviously, this sort of stuff is the reason I even started the Seven Keys Alliance, but coordinating a planetary survey and actually conducting it are two very different things.
Earlier today, I took some time and refitted my old science vessel, the Asp Explorer "London Affairs". The jump range has been boosted from around 50Ly to a whopping 68Ly by lightening the internal components and installing another one of those contraband FSDs I "procured". And this range increase comes despite the addition of a full arsenal of weaponry, a slew of sensors and scanners and other doodads, a collector limpet controller, a much-improved fuel scoop, vastly-improved thrusters, a stronger power distributor, and a HazOps ship kit. It just goes to show what you can accomplish when you really put work into your craft.
I've got my coffee, now I just need to get my bread.
