Kex and Tsuki got the ship up and running again sometime about midday according to the shipboard clock. We were immediately greeted with a message from the Pilot's Federation. As I predicted, the situation back in the Bubble has bubbled over to war. The Pilot's Federation sent system permits out to every commander in order to fight. I had already sworn that I would go after Rochester if given the opportunity due to his threats against Lakon but I needed the rest of the crew's agreement. Kex eagerly agreed to heading straight home. I assume they sees this as an opportunity to strike directly at the corporate rule Rochester is championing. Tsuki was of the opinion that it's a fight between Feds, so we have no reason to get involved. Saoirse agreed with her somewhat but she's been spoiling for a fight, so her conclusion was that we could instead fight for either side. Either way she gets to shoot at Feds, so she seems happy with the idea of heading straight back.

Just then, a call from Aleks came in over comms. Apparently he had been trying to raise us while the ship was down but couldn't get a connection. Word of the war has reached Lunar Hyperlight. It seems a large part of the fleet is just as eager to take a shot at Rochester and Luna has called a vote as to whether or not to skip the last stop and head immediately home after the next mass jump. Aleks said he didn't care how it went either way but needed to know how to vote on the rest of our behalves. That put our vote at 3-1-0, so I told him to vote in favour of cutting the expedition short. The rest of the fleet seemed to agree. Luna soon announced that the result was a 22-6-8 vote in favour of heading back early. We still needed to get back to Lunar Hyperlight, so we needed to quickly wrap up our loop.

Our first stop wasn't far away from where we had stopped for repairs. The survey was fairly quick as well, only three biological signals registered on the planet. All of these turned out to be Amphora plants. We didn't stick around to collect any materials as our next stop was roughly 1,600 Ly away: the Wolf-Rayet that Tsuki had flagged yesterday.

We didn't find any planets more valuable than a water world on the way there unfortunately. However, we did pass through a system that Kex asked to linger in for a moment. They noticed how it was similar to other systems in the region we had stopped in with biological signals. Their hunch turned out to be correct and a scan revealed a single biological signal on the first planet orbiting the barycenter between the A and B star. The scan also revealed that it was a 3.43G planet. He predicted that the planet would contain pumpkins. Almost every single planet we've encountered them on has been greater than 1G. This prediction also came true but the pumpkins were roseum, which was our first time seeing those in this area. Their lights matched Eighth Veil's too.

We continued on to the Wolf-Rayet and arrived soon after. There were some peculiarities that immediately stood out to us. For starters, this one was orange instead of the purple all the other ones had been. Another thing that stood out was that the B star was a Herbig Ae/Be. A protostar. Wolf Rayets are approaching the end of their lives. It is highly unusual that a protostar and a dying star would be in the same system. It's especially odd that our scans indicate that they seem to have formed at relatively the same time, at under a million years ago. That's another oddity. One million years is extremely young for a star to be dying at. Often stars can last for billions of years. We're going to stop here for the night so Kex can run some tests. We'll start the return trip to Lunar Hyperlight tomorrow.
