Celestial Expedition I - Day 3

No exploration work today, as preparations are being made throughout the ship for our "24 hour party" later this week. Primary orders have been issued to all crew members at all stations to encourage participation in the festivities, and to foster goodwill and kindness towards each other regardless of our differences. I met with the station chiefs and our leadership teams this morning to help iron out the details and answer any questions. Everyone seems to understand that station responsibilities need to be carried out first and foremost. However, we've managed to curtail some of the non-essential duties this week and provide additional roster rotations and crew cross-training to allow for a more even distribution of tasks and labor so that everyone can have ample time to enjoy themselves.

Phoenix and I made the rounds throughout the day, talking with the crew and helping out whenever possible. Most of the activity today took place in the Pilots' Lounge and the gymnasium. It seems some of the more ingenious crew members managed to set up a zero-G volleyball court, so that many of the more athletic types (myself and Phoenix included) found themselves leaping and soaring all over the place as we all tried to get used to the pace of play. Teams were formed and rotated in and out while matches were kept short to allow for more people to play. There were a couple of minor casualties that needed to go to sick bay for treatment of bumps and bruises, but thankfully nothing more serious than that.

We made our way over to the Pilots' Lounge, where someone had set up the karaoke machine. I was surprised at just how many quality vocalists we have on board! Of course, my judgment of their talents may or may not have been influenced by the Lavian brandy I consumed. It was probably a good thing that I had had a couple of drinks in me when the crew on hand started chanting for me to go up and sing a song. Being the Commander, how could I say no to my crew? What really surprised me, though, was when Phoenix took a turn at the mic. I was certain that he would rather die than risk putting himself out there for everyone to see and judge, yet there he was, singing a tune - and killing it, I might add! He really does have a lovely voice.

There's talk of having a talent show tomorrow. Given what I've learned of this crew so far, I'm certain I will be amazed at the talents that will be on display!
