Celestial Expedition I - Day 4

The festivities continued aboard the Celestial Avenger today. We decided to host some friendly competitions throughout the day. Some of these were more sports-oriented, such as "Fastest Crew Member", "Strongest Crew Member", etc. Others were more skillful, such as "Best Sharpshooter" and "Fastest System Scanner". We also issued each crew member a credit chip with equal amounts of "fake credits" that they could use to participate in gambling tournaments that we set up. It's amazing to see the lengths that some of the more inventive crew members would go to as roulette wheels and even slot machines were produced rather quickly for the events! It was also nice to see "Cosmic Charlie", one of the oldest crew members, score a tourney win in Texas Hold 'Em. He's been an incredible influence on the younger members of the crew, telling jokes and stories about his travels throughout the galaxy.

I decided to let Phoenix handle most of the admin duties today with the festivities because I wanted to explore a few of the nearby systems to see if we could score a little bit of Tritium before we moved on from the nebula. We still have plenty of fuel in the bunkers, but I wanted to see how well the Celestial Clipper could mine the icy rings just in case we really needed to stock up. I took the Celestial Ranger out on the following path:

Statue of Liberty Sector JC-U b3-2
Statue of Liberty Sector DL-Y d30
Statue of Liberty Sector JC-U b3-1
Statue of Liberty Sector DL-Y d34
Statue of Liberty Sector FB-X c1-9
Statue of Liberty Sector FB-X c1-8
Statue of Liberty Sector FB-X c1-11
Statue of Liberty Sector HW-W c1-4
Statue of Liberty Sector HW-W c1-8
Statue of Liberty Sector HW-W c1-9
Statue of Liberty Sector HW-W c1-7
Statue of Liberty Sector LX-T b3-0
Statue of Liberty Sector HW-W c1-5
Statue of Liberty Sector GW-W c1-15
Statue of Liberty Sector DL-Y d35
Statue of Liberty Sector LX-T b3-2
Statue of Liberty Sector DL-Y d27
Statue of Liberty Sector GW-W c1-5
Statue of Liberty Sector GW-W c1-11
Statue of Liberty Sector MS-T b3-1
Statue of Liberty Sector GW-W c1-12
Statue of Liberty Sector DL-Y d30

It was in the Statue of Liberty Sector GW-W c1-12 system that I finally found what I was looking for: a gas giant with icy rings. I flew back to the FC and switched over to the Clipper, then made my way back to that system's 10th planet. I'm happy to say that the mining trip was a success - only produced six tons of Tritium, but the effort to mine it was rather minimal. It's six tons that we didn't have when the day started, so I call that a win in my book.

After docking my ship, I met up with Phoenix for a nightcap in the Pilots' Lounge, where he caught me up on the recent happenings. He noted that crew morale seemed to be at an all-time high, which was a relief. It can be quite challenging to plan these morale-boosting events, not knowing if they'll have the intended effect or be received with indifference. Our talent show is scheduled for tomorrow - we'll actually have three of them, one for each shift. Phoenix suggested we try to come up with some trophies or prizes for the winners of each show, which I think is a capital idea. I think I might have a few shiny treasures tucked away in my personal belongings that we can use...
