Celestial Expedition I - Day 5

24 NOV 3308We're still in the middle of our "24 hour party", having completed the talent shows yesterday. Based on what I've witnessed so far, I think I might say that mistakes were made, but hopefully no regrets either. In general, most of the crew have managed to maintain some level of discipline while still enjoying themselves. However, I've already had to approve a number of disciplinary investigations against crew members of many different ranks and responsibilities. While I don't expect these proceedings to result in any serious punishment actions, it's rather unfortunate that a few individuals choose to ruin things for everyone else.
The talent shows were quite impressive to watch! We seem to have an inordinate number of crew with talents in music, dance, art, and comedy. Since we're unable to grant planetside leave as a reward, Phoenix and I decided that we would provide credit vouchers to the winners of each category, to be spent at the next station or fleet carrier (or Beagle Point, whichever we encounter first). I have a strong feeling that we might be giving out credit vouchers to all the crew by the time we reach another civilized system, if only to allow them to purchase supplies or luxuries that might help make the trip a bit easier on them.
No excursions on the flight operations chart today. Phoenix and I wanted to take this day and really spend it with as much of the crew as possible. I believe it's important to engage with the crew on an individual level, so they can get a better sense of my character and commitment to their safety and well-being. It is my earnest hope that all of them will be willing to go above and beyond to ensure mine and Phoenix's safety when we're out in the black exploring all the wonders of this galaxy.
Tomorrow will be a full day of cleanup and maintenance at all stations. I don't expect to make any excursions until two days from now, given my current schedule of meetings and hearings.
