Celestial Expedition I - Day 6

25 NOV 3308General cleanup and maintenance has begun on all decks and stations. I've ordered all station chiefs to meet with their charges and inform them that everyone should be on normal drill and discipline schedules now. That includes proper recognition of the chain of command - standing at attention when a higher-ranking officer enters a room, speaking with proper respect for the ranks, etc. While I do like to run a bit of a loose ship in terms of crew discipline and orders, I also want to ensure that my bridge crew and station chiefs are not disrespected due to any laxness. In short, I can be friendly, but I can't be everyone's friend. Such is the paradox of being a commander.
We are expecting our fellow squadron mates to be making an appearance in system as soon as tomorrow. We are preparing a suitable welcome for them should they choose to board our fine carrier. Once we have met up with them, we should soon know where our next waypoint will be located. I expect Phoenix and I will be heading out in the Ranger in approximately two days' time to lead the exploration effort. Our departure may be delayed depending on when our mates arrive - we do wish to meet them here, but if they plan on being delayed longer, we will plot our own course forward.
News of the Kingfisher's demise has reached us, and it has had a profound effect on most of the crew. A few had friends and relatives on the megaship, and most wanted to see the pro-peace initiative bear some fruit. While returning home to the bubble to defend humanity against a Thargoid invasion is still a possibility for us, it is my hope that such an invasion will not come to pass. Personally, I'm more than a little concerned about this recent incident. The investigation and subsequent conclusions seem a little too...pre-arranged. Usually, investigations of this magnitude take days or even weeks to complete. How was this one completed in a single day? I'm also wondering about the supposed logs from the Kingfisher - has anyone been able to independently verify their contents? I find it more than a little curious that only independent and Federal sources have investigated and weighed in on the tragedy. Why hasn't anyone from the Empire or Alliance offered any information or comment on the situation? Alas, I suppose we are not in any position to do much about it at the moment.
