Captain's Log - The flight of shame

20 Jun 2020Geradine
Welp, failed my first mission. This is what I get for flying late without any caff. So, what had happened was I cooked my systems flying too close to a K-class giant. I didn't realize just how deep the scoopable zone was, and was caught in it for far too long. The straw that broke the camel's back, though, was an e-drop from flying too close to a simple, measley little M-class. I didn't take my dive shallow enough, and hit the outer edge, pinging me for a single hull point of damage, and thus, Gillian had had enough. Even though I failed the mission, I wouldn't call the trip a waste of time. Sure, I spent the better part of a week getting out here, but I broke a lot of personal records, as well as found out my personal limits for trips like these. I can only really do three hour stints at a time flying out in the black before needing to park my carcass and stretch my legs and unwind, It's probably better to do somewhat earlier when I'm not flying half-dead at the stick, and I've dialed in my method of exploration. All things to better improve my journey next time out. I'll be putting up some of the prettier sights I've come across in a following log. This is Commander Geradine, on the twentieth of June, 3306, at 1820 GalStan, signing off.
