Tarrants Log # 10

01 Aug 2016Dell Tarrant
I'm finding this journey so much easier at the second attempt. The Asp Explorer is far better suited than the Anaconda for this role. And the fact that I've set out with no weapons at all means I can travel quicker and further this time. The Witch Queen headed out this way fully armed and ready for bear!

I have finally reached Waypoint 1, which I had previously set up, and then travelled on for another few jumps before deciding to pick a spot to set down for the night (There is something about powering down in the depths of space that I still find unsettling. Its the sounds that I can hear when everything is quiet.....when there aren't meant to be sounds....)

I made planet fall on the second planet in B 133 Sector  YZ-Y C7.

I spotted a favourable landing area and changed heading toward it. What I had found was a large impact crater which looked like it had a decent size mountain at its centre. I decided to see if I could lane atop it and so engaged the vertical thrusters. Success!

I deployed the SRV for a short recce, and logged it as a first discovery. I have named the peak, Iconoclypse Mons, in honour of DRX. I mean to name other sites of interest after my other fellow DRX explorers in future as well.

I powered down the ship once back aboard and settled in for the night.

It was to total darkness that I awoke, but I had a magnificent view of Barnards Loop over the horizon, whilst enjoying breakfast. I depart for Waypoint 2 shortly.

Do you like it?
