Tarrants Log # 20

I have now been out here at Jaques for several days and am continuing my contribution to the mining operation. The Osmium is in quite plentiful supply as long as you know where to look. I have upgraded my fleet out here so that I am able to operate on all fronts. I have decided to now utilise a Type 6 which I have named Ranger 4 and set her up for mining operations.I have taken her out a few times now and am impressed on how she handles for this type of job, although I am learning that I need to manage her power a little more carefully than I have been used to. Still, she is doing well and we are getting some good hauls in various metals as well as Osmium. Plus, the coffee making station is top notch. It's quite relaxing to sit back with my legs up on the console, watching the limpets going about there business whilst I gaze out over the asteroid field sipping coffee. I'm enjoying the solitude if I'm honest.
Besides the mining, I have also been assisting the security services out here by taking out marauders and pirates amongst the prospecting fields. I purchased a Viper Mk 3 especially for the task and already we are enjoying
a fruitful relationship.
But, with all this work, I thought I needed a little relaxation and so I decided to take the Cleaveland Steamer, (sporting her new livery) out for a short exploration trip. I only plotted a course of around 7 jumps but it took me about 240 ly out which was still enough to make some new discoveries. Quite an eventful trip really which almost ended with me being marooned on a distant moon after a problem with the auto landing on the Steamer. I need to get the approach computer checked I think, as I'm pretty sure that boost shouldn't be engaged when coming in for a SRV landing pickup. I am now heading back to Jaques to get some more mining in and assist with getting the system up and running quicker.
