The Exodus from Titan's Daughter

Whatever I think about the seeking of nay, actual provocation of war by Aegis, no one deserves to die in the fiery pit that the Coriolis Station Titan's Daughter has become.
I abandoned my own... ah... exploration of the Hudson war machine to join the plethora of ships shepherding people away from the damnation inflicted upon the station. The tide of humanity, and the variety of ships that took them to safety reminded me of some other time: a time I had read about in Earth's early history, a time that was called Dunkirk. And following Dunkirk, the forces for good rallied, and began to fight back against their oppressors, eventually to win an historic victory. Except...
There is no doubt now that this was the Thargoid ships attacking the stations. I even encountered one of the new "Medusa" class ships in the system. But they still don't attack you unless you provoke them. So what is it that we have done to cause them to take such violent action? Is it actually we who are the aggressor? Even with this devastation that they have wrought upon our homes in space, they have not attempted to wipe us out. Which begs the question: are they simply trying to send us a message? In a form that we might understand?
Although I prepare myself for the day when I may have to fight for my own life against a thargoid, I can't help feeling that we do not know exactly what is happening here yet. And what it might cost us to continue fighting with this so called alien threat.
